The Moose is Loose in Covington VA

Troop 128 traveled to Covington, VA this week for the annual Moose Camporee. The Moose is a fantastic event put on by the Stonewall Jackson Council that provides a wealth of merit badge opportunity.

We arrived late Friday night after an electrical issue with the trailer, but that didn’t dull spirits for the weekend. After breakfast on Saturday, the scouts took off for many locations onsite and offsite to study everything from composite materials to railroading. After the days’ activities, the scouts played a modified game of volleyball/dodgeball into the evening. After dinner, scouts from all over Virginia gathered for a campfire and OA callout ceremony.

We returned home on Sunday morning. In all, two dozen scouts earned merit badges that will move them forward in rank toward Eagle.
